Power, Love, & A Sound Mind (2 Timothy 1:7)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind”. (NKJV)

Dear friend, you are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might and His divine power has given you everything you need for life and Godliness through your relationship with Him. (2 Peter 1:3) God the Holy Spirit is in you, and He fills you with power and strength.  The Lord in you is so much greater than anything or anyone out there in the world (1 John 4:4) and Jesus in `us has already overcome every attack of the enemy on any part of our lives.  It is true that there is a virus that seems to have spread to many nations, but our real enemy is a spirit of fear being released in the world through the media, and God is calling us to rise up in power and overcome.  God is with us, and in His strength, we can overcome every infirmity, however huge it may seem to be. The name of Jesus is higher than every plague or epidemic. He conquered death and put satan and everything connected to him under His feet (and ours).  In Luke 10:19, Jesus said “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” It is official; we have been given the heavenly power to overcome every nasty thing sourced by the enemy!  It is all rigged in our favor, and we are already set up to win, but unless we know this and keep our eyes on Jesus, we will never overcome the way God intended us to.

We have not been given a spirit of fear, but love, power, and a sound mind that is awakened and surrendered to the Holy Spirit.  Fear comes from another source, and is sent to steal, and destroy (John 10:10) what God has given us, but His love and power have come to set us free.

Today our Father God tells us “choose this day who you will serve” (Joshua 24:15): The spirit of power and of love, or the spirit of fear; a sound mind, or the confusion and doubt that fear brings.  Faith cannot operate where there is fear – faith and fear are at two opposite extremes of the spectrum. Fear and anxiety weaken us spiritually and emotionally, and hinder the move of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Everything in the Kingdom is based on faith, and it is not possible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). Fear can even affect a person’s biology and compromise their immune system; it can make them susceptible to infection etc simply because they were believing for it and expecting/fearing something bad to happen. How much better it is to place our trust in the unfailing One, and to believe His Word and see it fulfilled every day. God has promised to never leave us (Hebrews 13:5) so we know we will never face a challenge alone.  He has also promised to give us the victory in every situation (1 Corinthians 15:57: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.)  Jesus already paid the price for every virus or plague to be nailed to the cross eternally. His blood has redeemed us from every part of the curse, past, present and future. This is such good news! While we can take the reasonable necessary precautions to safeguard ourselves from infections, we can go about our normal lives without the fear of being taken over by them. The enemy (and every infirmity he could ever bring) is under our feet!

Jesus said to His disciples (John 14:1) “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” You and I can hold our hearts steady in God and in His Word. We can choose to keep our hearts from being taken over by anxiety and fear. As sons (& daughters) of Abba God, we can know with full confidence that every solution to every problem is available in Him (His house), and there is no lack in Him. Everything we need is already found in Him. None of the things happening in the world today are a surprise to God. Jesus saw the current state of the world and He said to His disciples (John 16:33) “These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” He has already overcome, and He, the Prince of Peace, promises us peace in every situation.

1 Corinthians 15:58 says “Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” We are being told to stand our ground and not be swayed by the things going on in the world, and whatever havoc the enemy tries to bring. We are in Jesus Christ, and He is in us.  We are strong and filled with the power of His might. We are life giving spirits, and we have already won by the power of His blood. Choose life today. Choose God’s way, the higher way. Choose to let His peace fill you, and walk with a sound mind, and in the power of His love. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and that is so much better, because Jesus’ sacrifice has already placed us on victory street, hallelujah! You are an overcomer, and mighty in God! “Fear not for I am with you” – Isaiah 41:10.
