The New Normal (Matthew 5:13)

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” (NKJV)

There is a whole new season emerging from the depths of the earth, new life stirring, and hope being birthed. Winter has finally gone, and although it seems like weeping remained for a night, joy comes in the morning! Things have definitely shifted, and there is a calling for every son and daughter of the King, to take their place, to fulfill their calling on the face of the earth. This is a time to rise up and be who we have been called to be. Dear friend, you are the salt and light in this hour. You and I were born for such a time as this. If there is a “new normal” being established, then let us rise up and be the agents of transformation. Jesus tells us to be like the “salt of the earth”. Our flavor and savor are meant to change the systems, the atmospheres, and the thinking of the world. We are meant to be heavenly ambassadors releasing the culture of heaven, a “new normal” right here.

During these past weeks of “lockdown” across the world, I have had to go back to Romans 12:2 countless times. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” From what Paul is saying, we can see how intentional we have to be in how we live. We can choose to be influenced primarily by the Word of the Lord, and by the culture of heaven, instead of being filled with the thinking presented by the popular media, and affected by it. There will always be light and darkness, death and life out there, but which one will you choose to take into yourself? Moses said to the people of Israel before they went into the promised land (Deuteronomy 30:19) “Choose life or death”.  Yes, we can choose life, and release the “taste” of life into everything we do. We can choose to be salt in this hour – bringing a new flavor of God’s heart, His good report which stands unchanged in the face of so much negativity and fear around us.

Apart from bringing out the special flavors in food, salt serves as a preservative, a cleansing agent, and even has medicinal properties. It speaks of life and health. Salt that has lost its flavor has lost its identity and has no purpose. Today the Holy Spirit reminds us to be His savor and flavor on the earth. We have a different report, the voice of the Lord. We can set a different “normal” for each of our own lives, recognizing and living in our God given identity. We can stand so strongly in our connection to our Father God that it begins to affect and influence the world in which we live. This is a season to be who we are, and to express our divine DNA. We are the blood bought sons and daughters of the most High, the ones that Jesus paid for with His own life. He is in us, and we are one with Him. We do have a divine destiny, a purpose and a calling, and we carry His life within, hallelujah!

Dear friend, you were born to win, born to be free. You were born to be salt and light for all humanity. Choose life today, and let the taste of zoe life in you set other people free! You and I can set the “new normal” and it can be the good normal, the “God normal” we have always wanted to see; it is up to you and me! There is a creative life force of the Holy Spirit inside each of us, and in partnership with Him, we can see things change and the power of life released in our communities. Embrace Jesus, embrace His Spirit, His life. Let your mind be filled with Him. There is a “new normal” arising from within your heart, and flowing outwards to bring a “new normal” to the world in which you live. The Holy Spirit is in you and He has filled you with transformative power! Be blessed and know that God is with you always!
