“God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.” (NKJV)
More than any other time in the history of the world and our nation, we are seeing uproar and uncertainty around us. We have seen the nations rage, and the kingdoms “moving”. It seems like many institutions, systems and values we have depended upon are being changed, and “reset”. There appears to be instability and insecurity in the world, but in the midst of it all, God is assuring us that He is with us, right there in the thick of the melee!
Psalm 46 verse 4 says “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the Holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High”. There is a joy that is arising within the people of God, which is not dependent on external circumstances or on the acceptance of man. It is a supernatural joy that comes from the river that flows from the holy throne of Yahweh God. It is a place of set-apartness, a place consecrated unto the Most High. When this psalm was written, it was referring to a physical place, where people looked at the tabernacle or temple as the specific place the presence of God could be found. However, today, you and I are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, & 1 Corinthians 6:19). God the Holy Spirit lives within us, and draws us deeper into the heart of the Father and into the fullness of His love and power. Your heart can be that set-apart place, consecrated and holy unto the Lord, where He is Lord, and where His Word flows and manifests.
What Psalm 46 says about the city of God, the Holy Spirit is saying about you today: “God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.” Dear friend, during this difficult hour when darkness seems to be having its day, we cannot allow ourselves to be moved. We have to know and believe from the very depths of our hearts that the Mighty Omnipotent Spirit of God really is within us and with us, and that God in the midst of us is bringing us the victory. His Word will be fulfilled. It is always darkest just before the dawn, but when the dawn breaks, the whole sky lights up and the world looks different, clean, and new! We would love to have heaven come through for us with plenty of time to spare, but it seems like the breakthrough often comes at the 11th hour (or later), and how sweet that breakthrough is when it comes! The Holy Spirit is promising that our help is manifesting just at the break of dawn. When even the strong of heart are getting discouraged and starting to despair, the sun is beginning to shine. Just when it seems like all hope is lost and the battle is over, the dawn is breaking. God will not be a moment too late!
As we see in Psalm 46:6, the nations rage. Psalm 2 says “Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed saying, Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.” (Verses 1-3). But then we read in verse 4: “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh. The Lord shall hold them in derision.” People scream and complain against the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the power of His blood. They see His Word and His Truth as a shackle and kick against Him and His Bride. But God is in the midst of her and she shall not be moved! Earthly kingdoms and creations shall be “moved”, brought to dust, and conformed to suit the darkness, but God is in the midst of His Bride and she will not be moved. She will keep her gaze upon His face, her eyes locked with His, and be unmoved! He looks at the dark machinations of the world with absolute derision and laughs at their efforts to derail Him. His Kingdom shall not be shaken, hallelujah!
“My beloved Bride, when I look at you, I see My joy and My delight! I see the Blood bought one who gave herself to Me, to be filled with My Spirit, My light, My destiny. Stand strong My Bride, stand strong in Me. I am opening a roadway in the wilderness, a path through the Red Sea. Just when you thought that all was lost, I am sending angel armies; I am giving you the victory.”
Friend, verse 7 of Psalm 46 reminds us that the Lord of hosts is with us! The mighty, glorious, invincible God of angel armies is with us. He is our refuge, and our hiding place, and He is fighting for us and is on our side. There is nothing impossible with God, nothing He cannot do. All He seeks is that we will believe His Word and trust Him to see things through. So let the River of Life flow, and let those streams make you glad! Weeping remained for a night but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5). Let the city of God be filled with joy for He is in the midst of her always!
