Good Plans (Jeremiah 29:11)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord; thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”

It’s the beginning of another shiny, new year, and the Holy Spirit has invitations and increase for the sons and daughters of God! The days of this year hold endless potential, and you can create with Him, and see the unfolding of God’s dreams for your life; or you can create by yourself, or just flow with the world, and see a different result.

I saw a new year greeting which was worded as follows: “Don’t be afraid to trust an unknown year to a known God”. This sounds good, except that while there are certain specifics which are unknown in this year, we can know without a doubt that this “known God” has plans for His own, and they are good ones, so the year ahead doesn’t have to be “unknown”. He has abundant thoughts in His heart for you and for me, and like a good father, He will help you to bring them to pass.

Friend, what would you want for your own children, or for your near and dear ones? Would you not want to see them prosper and thrive? Would you not want to do whatever possible to help them in the fulfilment of their hearts’ desires? You would plan with them for the days, or the project ahead, and envision a good and complete outcome. How much more would our heavenly Dad desire and intend to see good things fulfilled in our lives! He has great plans for our increase – to prosper His kids and not to harm them (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

Divine prosperity is the Father’s plan for you; His desire is for you to experience growth and His blessing in every aspect of your life – in your spiritual life and your health, your family, your work, your finances, and everything that concerns you. Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your (Your) good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” You were meant to shine like a bright light in the darkness! People are meant to see God’s hand upon you, and the manifestation of His good desires for your life. They are meant to see you reflecting Him, and to marvel at the reality of God’s goodness, “His” good works in your life!

People put up with whatever life brings to them, because they believe they are subject to how the winds of fate blow. But if you believe that Abba has good plans for you and wants to see you prospering; that He is actively involved and intervening in your life, you would expect the best for this year, and that will be what will unfold as the year progresses. What you see, is what will be.

How do you see your year unfold, dear friend? Let your mind create, let your heart anticipate. Pray and seek His heart and specific directions for your year. Align yourself with God’s Word for you – that He has good plans for you, plans to prosper you. The future is very bright!

The Holy Spirit is speaking to us from Exodus 33:14 where God said to His people “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  He has gone before us through this year, and prepared the way. Whatever happens in the world around us, it is going to be a year of inner peace and inner rest for us. It is 2022, the year of the double portion! Expect God’s goodness in double measure. There is goodness waiting as you step through that door!
