Born For Greatness! (Matthew 18:4)

You were born for greatness, born to excel and fly high beyond your wildest dreams! The “God” spark inside you keeps you looking upwards, moving towards the stars, ever progressing towards the calling and destiny which is yours because every person on planet Earth wants to be successful in something at some point. Ambition keeps us working hard, and reaching for goals but Jesus taught us how to be great.

We are told in Matthew 18:1-4: “At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

It is interesting to read how the mother of James and John asked Jesus if He would give her sons the honor of sitting on His right and left when He was ruling in His kingdom. The other disciples were not pleased about this request, but Jesus took the opportunity to teach his guys about a higher way. Jesus explained that the systems of the world are built on hierarchies, status and achievement; on levels where some people “lord” it over others. However, in His world, it is humility that gets you farthest.

Friend, desiring greatness is a beautiful thing and it is the “God-ness” inside us that has us wanting to exceed and excel. It is the divine nature within us that will not let us be satisfied with where we have been, and to hunger for more. God truly has more for you in every area of your life. He has deeper depths for you in the things of heaven, and higher heights in your relationships, career, finances etc. It is because “greatness” has been already tapped into your heart and into your very DNA that you feel led towards an increase in many areas of your life. God wants this for you too, but He has a different way to get there. There is a door we have to go through, to get to the other side, and it is a very tiny door, like a key hole, and you have to bend down really low! Jesus said (Matthew 16) that as we lay down our lives, we will get it all. He said “You want to have what I have? Then pick up your cross and follow Me”.

The biggest hindrance to my achieving everything God has for me is not the world or the dark realm, or my past or anything else. My biggest block is me if I continue to be focused on “me” and absorbed with what I want, what I feel and what I am. That’s why Jesus said “lay down your life” or “lose your life”.  When he tells us to “pick up our cross” He is referring to the calling and purpose He has for each of us. His was the cross, but what is yours? “Laying down your life” means laying down your “self” and your agenda, and giving it all over to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Are you willing to make Jesus your top priority, live your life for Him and walk in the path He has called you to?  If your answer is “yes”, then there is such greatness in store for you! There are dreams the Holy Spirit has place inside your heart, things God has called and commissioned you to, and nothing will hinder you from climbing up on the wings of the mighty Holy Spirit and flying far and high!

We read in Revelations 4:1 how John the Apostle saw a door standing open in heaven, and he heard a voice which called to him and said “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” Friend, know that God has an open door standing before you, and that He is calling you up to that elevated place, to come and experience His greatness. He is inviting you, beckoning you onwards up the mountain to see His face. If this is your posture, to lay yourself down and look humbly into His face, there is no limit to what you can achieve and how far you can go. By the power of the Holy Spirit you will have victory over every mountain you are led to take. You will see the beauty of true greatness, the greatness of Jesus, as you walk through Him, through the veil, and to a higher side. In the world, laying something down means you lose it; but in the Lord, you gain back more than you ever gave away, hallelujah!

Matthew 16:25“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” Pressed down, shaken together and absolutely abundantly running over – life in all its fullness, with increase and success following you wherever you go. You were born for Godly greatness, and that’s what you will see – Amen!
