Unique & “One Of A Kind” You (Ps 139:13 & 14)

“For You formed my inward parts. You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (NKJV)

There is no one else like you on the face of the earth because God made you and threw away the mold! You are a unique blend of different flavors, fragrances, colors and light, the masterpiece of the Almighty, who was and is fully involved in your creation and development. God the Holy Spirit was with you all the time you were taking shape in your mother’s womb. It is His fiery breath that forged your parts and sealed you in your skin, creating form and beauty, and keeping you safe within. In Genesis 1, God created each part of our world, and at each stage He blessed His creation and declared that it was good. When He made man, He was so pleased with His “art” that He said it was “very good”!

You and I have been made in God’s own image (Genesis 1:26) which means that we are a living expression of everything that He is, His Word made flesh. We are the living proof of the dream that was in His heart, the manifestation of His delight. You were born of heavenly seed.  You were born to be like Him, not by trying or striving, but because of the divine DNA, and the power of the Holy Spirit working in you and through you. You are a God modified organism (GMO!) born with a special purpose, born for such a time as this.

Friend, God made no mistakes when He formed you in your mother’s womb. Everything in your life – including all the experiences of the past – have been shaping you and preparing you for your life today. It is not some random chance that brought you to your place of work, of worship, or placed you in the family you belong to. Psalm 139 tells us that God had a definite plan for our lives before we were even born. There is a specific purpose and destiny for your life which is different from anyone else’s, and this is what you are moving towards every day. You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Jesus paid the highest price for His beautiful Bride when He gave His very life! He looks at you and says “So like Me. Bone of My bone and flesh of My flesh, this delightful one of destiny; you are filled with My love, filled with My might; one with Me and filled with light.” You may be your biggest critic, focusing on what you see as shortcomings, but Jesus looks at you and says you’re amazing! He sees how far you’ve come from where you were. He acknowledges how much like Him you are, and sees no spot or blemish in you. You are completely justified! The Holy Spirit invites us today to start seeing ourselves in the light of what Jesus has done and the complete work He did when He paid for our total forgiveness. Yes, see yourself through Jesus’ eyes, the One whose radical love made Him purchase you, His pearl of great price. You are the one He drove the distance for; you are the one He watched and wooed; you are the treasure in the field which he sold everything to buy!

Dear friend, you are amazingly and awesomely made in the image of Yahweh, so you can look at yourself in the mirror each day and see His face, His heart, His kindness and love. You can honestly say “Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well!” The more you see Jesus in yourself, the more you will see Him in those around you and the radical nature of His love will blow you away!
