You Anoint My Head With Oil

| Psalm 23:5) 21 – August 2019 |

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over.

NKJV

Why does God anoint our head with oil? One of the reasons is that our minds need the power of the Holy Spirit more than any other part of us! Have you ever had times when the Holy Spirit has spoken to you through soft, spontaneous thoughts into your heart, and how your mind quickly argued you out of promptly obeying? Or when you had an urge to trust God and step out in faith but you felt your mind cautioning you and holding you back from doing what your spirit just knew you could? This is why our minds need to be saturated with the Holy Spirit! When Paul confessed “I have the mind of Christ” it was because he had really given his mind to be filled with the Spirit of God. He knew there was no way he could walk in victory, overcoming the temptations of the world, the pressure the enemy brings into the thought realm unless he had the mind of Christ. The Prophet Isaiah (55:8-9) wrote “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”This is true because God’s thoughts and ways are unreachably higher than anything we could conceive, if we tried to be like Him in our own strength. But if we opened our minds to the Holy Spirit and allowed Him to come in, we would begin to think like Him.

How does this happen? 1) When we allow Him to be a part of every thought we think. Every time we try to figure things out on our own and wrestle with problems in our minds, we are keeping God out of our thoughts, and (more seriously) out of the issues of our lives. What can you do instead? (I am so glad you asked!) You could turn that thought, or that question, into a prayer. You could bring it to God and ask Him to show you the way to work it out. There are many mornings when my thoughts go to some problem as soon as I wake up, but I am learning to quickly turn those thoughts into a prayer, and to just yield my thoughts to the sweet Holy Spirit. He brings us the mind of Christ. He changes how we think, how we respond, how we feel, because He comes to the root of where it all begins, in the core of our minds, hallelujah! There is an independent spirit always pulling us away, and trying to make us rely on our limited understanding and lean on our own strength (Proverbs 3:5) when God’s is so much higher. God wants every part of you, and today He is asking you to give your deepest thoughts to Him. There is no height you cannot fly to, when you think your thoughts with Him!

2) There is another way we can allow the Holy Spirit into our minds to influence and shape our thoughts. This is by feeding on the Word. As we open hearts to the Holy Spirit and we consume the Word on a regular basis, He can begin to shape our thoughts, increase our discernment, and make us progressively more receptive to His voice rising up to speak to us through supernatural spontaneous thoughts manifesting into our minds. Hear the voice of our Abba God today:

“Precious child, can we start anew? Will you let me come into this crucial hidden place inside you? I want to make you strong within your thoughts, so strong that you will always overcome the enemy. You will recognize his lies and cast him out because my thoughts are in you and speaking to you and through you. I have such deep richness in store for you and it will all rise up from the newness of thinking I am bringing into you. Give yourself to Me, and let me transform your life by saturating your mind with thoughts from Me. Your breakthrough is manifesting forth as you start to think your thoughts with Me”. (Romans 12:1 & 2 ).The mind has been the primary battlefield for most of us, but this does not have to remain the case. God is showing us how to win, by allowing the fullness of the Holy Spirit in! Just give your mind (and every other part) to Him. Many Christians long to increase in the prophetic realm but they have not seen that in addition to the power of the Holy Spirit moving through their spirits, they need the Spirit to flow into and through their minds, literally giving them the mind of Christ and access to His thoughts! (1 Corinthians 2:16). It is the same with people who do not “hear” the voice of God and really desire to. Let the Lord Jesus anoint your head with Oil! Offer up every part of yourself to Him as a living sacrifice. Let the warm, heavenly supernatural oil of the Holy Spirit be poured upon your head and saturate through the flesh, blood and bones to fill every part of you, every part of your brain and your mind. You are going to hear and discern the voice of the Lord in a whole new way. You are going to see yourself changing and getting strong. You are going to see victory in the very deepest parts of your thought life, which used to be a place of defeat and a source of pain. God is setting you up for success, and it is all beginning to happen in this secret place within you, hallelujah! Be blessed and may He anoint your head with the richness of His oil!
