“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” (NKJV)
As the apostle John was being shown the wonders of heaven, he experienced the fiery flow that is happening eternally from within the center of the Godhead. It is the river of life, and within this river is everything that anyone could ever need. It is the “flow” of Heaven. As John observed what he was being shown, he says it was a “pure river”, and “clear as crystal”. While heaven is full of mystical things which are apprehended by faith, and we only see things “dimly” as through a glass, there comes a time when we shall see everything clearly. (1 Corinthians 13:12). There was nothing hidden here – only clarity, revelation, answers, truth – and it all came from the throne of God and Jesus. We connect to this supernatural flow when stand before the throne; when we acknowledge the Lordship of Yahweh over our lives, when we come to Him through the Lamb – the sweet, eternal sacrifice of the Lord Christ. And where is the Holy Spirit in this picture? He is the flow of God to us. He is the clear waters, the pure rushing River, shining like diamonds in the Son-shine, carrying the heart of God to us, our Glory and the lifter of our heads! (Psalm 3:3)
You are reading these words because there is a new “flow” opening into your life, and the Holy Spirit is inviting you to dive right in! God is taking us to another level, a place where it ceases to just be about you and your life, and what you want to do. There is a greater flow, a rushing River which is flowing in a certain direction, in a specific way. You can step in and allow it to carry you through life with ease and peace, or you can try to swim against the current, striving and sweating, and working hard to do what you think you want to do. It is so much smoother and more fruitful to plug into the greater purposes of God and to feel Him moving things along, making everything easy, everything light. The River of God is not just for us to experience and enjoy the blessing of God in our lives but to see that Flow of life running into the lives of other people, bringing perfect solutions even to those who have not still met and received Jesus as their Lord. Anyone can experience and be blessed by the solutions that are manifesting through those who live in the fullness of God’s river. These special edible leaves are for the healing of the “nations”, the diverse and various people groups of this earth. This Scripture says that the tree of life grew on either side of the River that flowed from the throne, and while the tree bore twelve different seasonal fruits, the leaves were potent to heal and restore, and to bring people to that throne.
The River proceeded from the Throne of God and flowed through the street of the new city; it is meant to carry needed solutions to all who seek. It is meant to manifest even in the “street” – in your every day walk and in what we may see as the daily un-exciting tasks that we do. The River brings life wherever it goes. (And if the leaves do this, just think about what the fruit could do!)
The River of God never needs to prove to anyone who He is. He carries heavenly power, heavenly solutions for all who need them. Miracles break out around the Holy Spirit as His fiery presence moves through our lives.
Friend, you have the Holy Spirit, and therefore, you have answers which people are seeking. You have divine solutions to the problems of this world. God’s great love for humanity manifests in solutions the world is desperate for. As we step into the fiery passion of His heart, our hearts begin to beat like His for others. We begin to feel like he feels for the hurting people of the world, and as we step into the River and allow it to sweep us away, we become one with the River, manifesting all the Spirit’s life and power. There are streams of living water rising up from our innermost being. We become the gushing, crystal waters that are singing an eternal song to the Lamb of God, and bringing divine solutions for the healing of the nations, bringing life wherever it flows. We could also become those strong, living trees that bear the leaves and fruit, and carry the solutions for needs all around us. Are you ready to jump right in? Are you going to hold on to your own plan for your life, or will you take a deep breath and dive into this bottomless crystal river that flows from the Throne and flows where it will towards a hurting world? Get ready to receive answers for the biggest issues this world is facing – energy, war, food shortages, drought, global warming, homelessness, trash disposal, to name but a few. Heaven is full of solutions, and the River that flows is flowing to you filled with all the solutions you need. Get ready! God is on the move in this season, and if we jump in and partner with Him, we are in for an amazing and exciting ride!
